The improved attachment system uses a flexible mounting member and a mechanical device. A first end of the mounting member can be attached to the backpack, and a second end of the mounting member can be attached to the mechanical device. The mechanical device comprises a flexible connector, a button, and an attachment device. The flexible connector is movable between a first position in which the flexible connector is adjacent the second end of the mounting member and a second position in which the flexible connector is away from the second end of the mounting member. The button is attached to the second end of the mounting member.
